Davies Craddock, local Estate Agents, Insurance Brokers and Financial Service Experts, has been a part of the community for over 40 years with offices in Llanelli and Carmarthen. From humble beginnings, Nigel Davies and David Craddock began trading in February 1978, just over 40 years ago, with just one part-time employee.
They quickly became a strong partnership, who traded primarily as Personal and Commercial Insurance Brokers, but also offering themselves as Estate Agents and Financial Advisers.
Steady growth continued and in 1986 they purchased the business known as C G ACE, Son and James, a well-established local Estate Agent, whose principal was Mr John James. The firm expanded its trading name to Davies Craddock Ace and James (DCAJ), however in 1999 when John James retired the name reverted to Davies Craddock.
Nigel and David have continued to grow the business with many acquisitions, the most recent being HLW Insurance Brokers of Carmarthen, which expanded their customer-base and increased the staff number to 35.
Nigel was educated at Llanelli Boys Grammar School originally pursuing an insurance career with General Accident gaining valuable experience before meeting up with David. Nigel is a Chartered Insurance Broker, an Associate of the Chartered Institute and treasurer of the Swansea and West Wales Insurance Institute. He is also Chairman of the charitable organisation, Shop Mobility.
David was also educated at Llanelli Boys Grammar School. His career took a different path initially working for National Westminster Bank where he gained a Diploma in Business Studies. David is also active in the community taking up roles supporting charities and local enterprises. He is Chairman of the Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Fundraising Committee, and a trustee of the Hospice. He has just completed five years as Chairman of Llanelli Town AFC and is now their President. He is also a past President and executive member of Llanelli Chamber of Trade and Commerce.
The company has many experienced members of staff. Zoe Williams, who has been a part of the team for 30 years, manages a team of specialist commercial Insurance Executives and has a great understanding of the complex needs of new and established commercial enterprise. Julie Walters has also been with the company for over 30 years. She heads the team that offers a full range of personal insurances including home, motor and travel. Aimee Taffetsauffer takes control of the thriving Estate Agency and Rentals department, which has grown in recent years. They have an experienced, proactive team with a wealth of industry knowledge and local market conditions. Stephen Fry offers independent financial services advice including financial protection, retirement and investment products. Stephen has worked in Financial Services for 34 years and has an in-depth knowledge of the market.
